Ben was raised in Eden, North Carolina and attended undergrad at Appalachian State University. While at App, Ben was a member of the cheerleading team. Following graduation, Ben attended law school at Elon University School of Law, where he was a member of the Honor Counsel, Phi-Alpha-Delta, and the Fellowship of Christian Lawyers. After graduation, Ben relocated back to Boone where he began his career practicing family law.

In his free time, Ben enjoys spending time with friends and family, attending church, and exercising.
